The German intensive course

Are you looking for a efficient and low-cost German language course in Hamburg?

Here at speakeasy we offer you a wide variety of German courses with physical attendance, as well as many online courses for all speaking levels from A1 to C1. When it comes to German courses, our language school offers the full range of morning, afternoon and evening classes.

You have the chance to complete the levels A1, A2 and B1 in only two months each (B2 will take 12 and C1 16 weeks) with our intensive German course at speakeasy Hamburg. This will happen with four days of lessons per week and 60 lesson units per course. You will be able to enjoy a nice long weekend to discover the exciting city Hamburg while still processing quickly, since our lessons take place from Monday to Thursday!

Learn at your own pace by choosing an intensive course, an evening course or a super-intensive course. Don‘t forget: we also offer one-to-one German lessons as well as German conversation courses.

You can also conveniently join our online courses in German from home. All you need is a computer, laptop or a tablet.

FAQ‘s about our courses

What do I do if the course time doesn't fit my schedule?

A little pressed for time? No worries! speakeasy has courses running from 9am to 9pm on weekdays, so we're sure to find you a course that suits you. If something comes up within the month, we can switch your course to a time that works better for you (depending on availability).

How big are the groups in speakeasy language courses?

Our groups have 4 to a maximum of 10 participants. The small size of our classes ensures that you will always have the right interaction with your teacher and opportunities to take part.

Which qualifications do speakeasy teachers have?

All teachers at speakeasy are native speakers, qualified to teach German as a foreign language. Our teachers are from a variety of backgrounds and will use their experience to motivate and support you in class.

What languages are spoken in speakeasy language courses??

The class language is always taught in German, although our teachers are multi-lingual and can explain ideas in a variety of languages. Beginner courses (A1.1) receive additional in-class explanations in English until the group becomes accustomed to being taught entirely in German.

On which days does the course take place?

From Monday to Thursday. Then you have a nice long weekend to discover Hamburg.

Meaning of course level A1

Vocabulary Topics:

  • Basic building blocks. Such as the alphabet, numbers and colours.
  • Talk about yourself, your family, work and celebrations.
  • Describe hobbies and activities.
  • Expression of times of the day, days of the week, seasons and special holidays.
  • Recognise food items on a menu and learn how to order.
  • Planning transports and travel: out and about the city,asking for help in a hotel, booking a hotel room.
  • Recognise parts of the body and compare clothing.
  • Discuss household activities.
  • Explore weather topics.

Grammar Topics:

  • Form a question using German ‘W’ words.
  • Verb position and conjugations in present tense.
  • Use of personal and possessive pronouns.
  • Introduction to separable verbs and how to use them.
  • Begin using the accusative case.

  • Using prepositions to describe location and time.
